Our Science
Deposition: the amount of material that remains in the target area, either on plants or the ground, minus the amount of spray drift away from the target area.
Adjuvants affect:
- flow though nozzle.
- spray droplet volumes (spray quality).
- driftable fraction.
Hence actual deposition may vary due to different application volume or spray drift losses. Plant interception may also be affected and deposition on ground may vary.
Deposition may be determined by measurement of agrichemical, fluorescent or visible dyes, or soluble metal cations.
Deposition and drift from multiple applications may be followed conveniently by using different metal cations and collecting on artificial surfaces or plants. Shelterbelts will modify deposition and drift.
Deposition and spray drift can be modelled. (CART)
